Meet the “chick” behind the pottery
Hello! I’m Becky, the artist behind Sassy Lil Chick Pottery.
I never really set out to start a pottery business. I simply fell in love with working with clay and discovered how much I enjoy creating things that people can use or add a lil sass to every day items.
My pottery is handmade in Colorado, one piece at a time. I love pieces that have personality: a lil texture, a lil whimsy, and sometimes a lil sass. Because handmade pottery isn’t supposed to look like it came off an assembly line, each piece has its own lil quirks and character.
Thanks for being here and supporting my lil pottery adventure.
My pottery journey began in September 2024 after watching my dear friend Karin post her pottery on Facebook. I didn’t start out thinking I would make pottery to sell. I thought that if you take a hobby and turn it into a business, it might feel like work. I imagined creating pottery inspired by my Colorado roots, but somewhere along the way, a tiny little chick found its place on the bottom of every piece I make.
That little chick isn’t just a maker’s mark stamp. It reminds me of a painting my mom created of little birds sitting together on a fence. Every time I see it, I think of her, and this verse:
“Look at the birds of the air… your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” — Matthew 6:26
It’s a gentle reminder that God knows our needs, cares for us, and invites us to let go of worry and trust Him.
That little chick also has a bit of personality—just like me. 😊 So when it came time to name my pottery business, Sassy Lil Chick Pottery felt like the perfect fit.
My hope is that every handmade piece brings a lil joy, a lil encouragement, and a reminder that they are deeply loved and cared for. ❤️
Why the chick?
Here is my little family… my hubby, me, my two sons and their wives.
Picture painted by my mom. We lost her in August 2020 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. If she were still here, I know she would be painting my pottery.
